Carroll bombs Bowie in debut
Carroll County's debut in The Baltimore Beltway Senior Softball League was a bit (sic) hit on Monday. Carroll downed host Bowie 34-14 in its inaugural game. The local team pounded 40 hits in the rout. Harry Griffith had the first hit for Carroll, while Harry Morgan gained the pitching victory. Bill Shaver and Hank Maynes smacked home runs. Frank Kelbaugh, Leo Dutry and Chip Baginski had four hits each, while George Malone and Dick Spriggs had three each. Carl Reed and Henry Lichtfuss had two hits. The Carroll team, which is sponsored by the Farmers and Merchants Bank, makes its home debut on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
